Sree Narayana Guru ( 1855 -1928 ) was a Saint, Philosopher and social reformer who lived in Kerala State of South India. He was a mystic, a teacher, a philosopher, a visionary, a scientist, a saint, a social reformer, a great nation builder and a poet, all blended into one. Guru spent the whole of his life for the up-liftment and betterment of the outcastes and down-trodden people of Kerala. He was a’religious preceptor’, Guru of the Indian tradition, at the same time a ‘social revolutionary’ who never wanted to escape from the hard realities of life of the common man.
Some of his teachings are relevant even for today :
“One caste, one religion, one God for man”
“ Gain freedom through education”
“Gain strength through organization”
“Gain prosperity through Industry”
“Liquor is poison, make it not, sell it not, drink it not”
